Atty. Pauline Grace Intal-Pantaleon: A lawyer and a public servant

Atty. Pauline Grace Intal-Pantaleon was already enrolled in a different law school when she heard that the DLSU CoL was opening the following year. “I immediately canceled my enrollment and waited for a year just for DLSU CoL to open. I have always considered DLSU as my home. I earned my undergraduate degree here. I also liked that the DLSU College of Law (CoL) would put an emphasis on Human Rights in its curriculum,” she shared. She was awarded the Carlos Romulo Scholarship that helped her through four years of law school.

“Law School is very challenging. I remember how, for four years, almost every waking hour of every day was spent on studying and preparing for recitations and exams. But what I remember the most is the sense of fulfillment I would get after a good recitation or a good mark in a test. Nothing truly compares to having one’s hard work pay off,” she added.

Atty. Pauline is one of the first batch of law graduates from the DLSU College of Law. She belonged to the batch that achieved the highest passing rate for private law schools in the 2014 bar exams.

At the core of Lasallian education are the values of faith, zeal for service and communion.  These values gave her purpose and direction in the practice of her profession as a lawyer and as a public servant. “It is quite easy to get lost in the ramifications of the practice, and there is a tendency to lose one’s sense of purpose. Some also tend to get indifferent towards the needs of society. With these core values, we can keep our feet on the ground and our eyes towards the ultimate goal of being of service to God and to others. I continue to carry these values today, in every decision, every path I take, and every opportunity I get,” she shared.

When I am faced with challenges and difficulties, I always tell myself to ‘rise above it’. Rise above any adversity, rise above troubled conditions, rise above and be the better person. Just as Christ rose above sin and death, I will persevere to rise above anything that comes in my way.”

She is proud of her 6-year tenure in public service. Currently, she serves as Assistant City Prosecutor in Manila. “I have been led to this path, and it has been fulfilling to aid in the pursuit of justice for our fellowmen. I feel that I truly achieved what I set out to do that day I chose DLSU College of Law, and I can say, without a doubt, that that was the best choice I ever made.”

Atty. Pauline is a member of the organization called Themis, which advocates empowerment of women. She is also active in several charitable organizations.
