De La Salle University formalized the establishment of the Jonathan M. Sterling Scholarship Fund through the signing of a Deed of Donation on 4 February 2026 at the Henry Sy Sr. Hall. The scholarship fund is intended to support students with demonstrated financial need, providing greater access to quality Lasallian education for students from low-income families.

Mr. Jonathan M. Sterling is a tech entrepreneur and philanthropist. He was accompanied at the signing ceremony by his partner, Celeste Cortesi.

In his message, Mr. Sterling expressed his desire to support DLSU and create a lasting impact through education. He emphasized, “Education is one of the biggest things that you can do to support them, and to bring others out of that situation as well.” He also shared his confidence in the University, citing its strong reputation and his assurance that “the money will go exactly where it’s going to go.”

DLSU President Br. Bernard S. Oca FSC expressed the University’s gratitude for Mr. Sterling’s generosity and commitment to education. “This scholarship grant will play a significant role in strengthening the University’s scholarship programs and expanding access to a Lasallian education for students who might otherwise be unable to afford it. By investing in them, we are enabling them to uplift their families, serve their communities, and contribute meaningfully to our nation,” he said.

The Jonathan M. Sterling Scholarship Fund aligns with DLSU’s mission of providing inclusive and transformative education, particularly to students in the margins of society. Through this partnership, the University strengthens its commitment to forming future leaders and changemakers who will contribute to national development and social transformation.

The scholarship fund will be implemented beginning Academic Year 2026–2027 and is projected to benefit twenty-two (22) scholars over its duration. In addition to tuition support, the fund will provide a monthly stipend to help scholars cover academic and living expenses.

The ceremony was attended by Ms. Celeste Cortesi, DLSU Administrators Dr. Anthony Tiu and Dr. Mary Jane Flores, and members of the Advancement and Alumni Relations Office, who facilitated the establishment of the fund.
