The De La Salle University – Tañada-Diokno School of Law (TDSOL), represented by the DLSU Law Moot and Debate Society (LAMDES), concluded their run in the Philippine National Rounds of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition, finishing 7th among 28 universities.
The DLSU Team also placed 9th in memorial rankings, with individual oralists ranking strongly among 107 competitors from across the country:
Britney Paderes – Rank 19
Justin de Borja – Rank 21
Alfonso Ramos – Rank 22
Lance Nolasco – Rank 33
The oralists were supported by a dedicated research team consisting of Lorenzo Delfin, Genary Gonzales, Carlie Manayan, Francesca Sarmiento, and Jiordan Simon, all second-year students at TDSOL and members of LAMDES. The team was coached by Associate Professor Rebecca E. Khan, who teaches Public International Law at the law school. TDSOL alumnus Atty. Francis Gerard J. Bautista served as the team’s alumni coach.
National rounds of the prestigious Jessup Moot take place globally and simulate a case before the International Court of Justice. The competition requires students to submit well-researched written memorials, and plead in oral arguments before a panel of judges. The intensely competitive national rounds were a culmination of months of hard work by the team. Well done, Team DLSU!
