Dr. Merlin Suarez Makes History as De La Salle Lipa’s First Female Chancellor

De La Salle Lipa proudly inaugurates Dr. Teodosia Merlin “Yamie” C. Suarez as its third Chancellor and first female leader. Committed to transformative education, innovation, and global excellence, she leads DLSL toward a future-ready, faith-driven, and sustainable academic community one brick at a time.
The College of Computer Studies (CCS) proudly celebrates the appointment of Dr. Teodosia Merlin “Yamie” C. Suarez as the third and first female Chancellor of De La Salle Lipa (DLSL). A distinguished educator, researcher, and leader,  Dr. Suarez has continuously shaped the future of Lasallian education from her tenure as CCS Dean and Vice Chancellor for Academics at De La Salle University (DLSU) to her remarkable contributions in computer science, artificial intelligence, and human-computer interactions.

On February 11, 2025, DLSL made history as it officially welcomed Dr. Suarez during an investiture ceremony at SENTRUM, attended by school leaders, faculty, and guests. In her speech, she emphasized future-ready education, collaboration, and perseverance.

“𝑊𝑒 𝑚𝑎𝑦 𝑛𝑜𝑡 𝑎𝑙𝑤𝑎𝑦𝑠 𝑠𝑒𝑒 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑓𝑢𝑙𝑙 𝑝𝑖𝑐𝑡𝑢𝑟𝑒, 𝑏𝑢𝑡 𝑤𝑒 𝑤𝑖𝑙𝑙 𝑚𝑜𝑣𝑒 𝑓𝑜𝑟𝑤𝑎𝑟𝑑 𝑜𝑛𝑒 𝑏𝑟𝑖𝑐𝑘 𝑎𝑡 𝑎 𝑡𝑖𝑚𝑒,” she said, inspiring the Lasallian community to work together toward progress.

As she takes on this new leadership role, we are confident in her vision for transformative education and commitment to global excellence and sustainability. The Lasallian community stands with you, Doc Yamie, as you guide De La Salle Lipa one brick at a time toward a brighter, future-ready, and globally connected academic landscape.

Your CCS family is so proud of you!
