De La Salle University hosted a ceremonial signing of the Deed of Donation with Evelyn D. Ang Scholarships and Charities Inc. (EDASCI) on November 8, underscoring their commitment to academic excellence. The event marked the expansion of the Ang Beng Uh Professorial Chair in Management and Organization under the RVR College of Business, and the Ang Beng Uh Professorial Chain in Industrial Systems Engineering under the Gokongwei College of Engineering. Attending the event were two of Ang Beng Uh’s sons, EDASCI Chairman, Mr. Phillip T. Ang, and Mr. Edward T. Ang, along with the EDASCI Executive Vice President, Mrs. Carmina O. Ang and Mr. Harvey T. Ang.
In her message, Mrs. Carmina Ang highlighted how Ang Beng Uh’s legacy of instilling the values of hard work and altruism in his children. “Through these Professorial Chairs, we aim to inspire and empower researchers to push the boundaries of business and management,” she noted. She also spoke of Ang Beng Uh’s commitment to give back by uplifting the underprivileged and mentoring aspiring entrepreneurs, many of whom went on to become successful business leaders.
Ang Beng Uh, a trailblazing industrialist, established U/Tex (Universal Textile Mills Inc.), the Philippine’s first integrated textile mill. He later expanded into different specialized textile mills and ventured into real estate, food, hospitality, and banking. His unwavering dedication to innovation and philanthropy is perpetuated through these Professorial Chairs, to help advance knowledge and promote economic development.
Br. Raymundo Suplido FSC, DLSU Science Foundation Inc. (SFI) President, reflected, “It is a rare and noble act of a son to honor his father in a way that helps others. Through these professorial chairs, the memory of Ang Beng Uh inspires research that benefits not only our University but the nation.”
Originally established in 1996, the professorial chairs continue to grow through EDASCI’s generous support. This enduring partnership between the Ang family and DLSU highlights a shared mission of fostering academic and societal progress.
The event, which was held at the boardroom of La Salle Green Hills, concluded with a ceremonial check handover and the presentation of a token of appreciation to the Ang family, symbolizing their unwavering support for DLSU’s mission.

Giselle Joy Esmeria, Executive Asst. of the DLSU SFI Ms. Mina Dalmacio, Controller of DLSU SFI Ms. Bea Zamora, and officers and staff from the AARO and Strategic Communications Office.
