Engr. Isidro Marfori III, assistant professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the Gokongwei College of Engineering, received the Encouragement Award in The Hitachi Global Foundation Asia Innovation Award 2023.
He was cited for his research project, “Open-source hydro technology–A small scale hydro technology in the Philippines free for all,” which can be implemented with minimal skills and tools for rural communities that still have no access to electricity.
The award recognizes Marfori’s achievement in research and development and encourages the implementation of the technology in society with the aim of contributing to the SDGs.
The Hitachi Global Foundation Asia Innovation Award was launched in 2020 to promote science, technology, and innovation and contribute to solving social issues and realizing a sustainable society in the ASEAN region.
The Office of Vice President for External Relations and Internationalization facilitated DLSU’s participation in this initiative.
