DLSU opens the Cervantes – Revilla Collection

DLSU Libraries, in coordination with the Advancement and Alumni Relations Office, officially opened the 324 various textiles, tapestries, artifacts, wood carvings, three-dimensional objects, and other memorabilias of High School 1958 alumni, Antonio “Tony” Cervantes (✝) and Vicente “Vince” Revilla at the 9/F of the Learning Commons on March 4.

Mr. Vince Revilla, in his message, shared his special bond with his friend, Tony and their fondness in collecting cultural items. “This special collection will enrich everyone’s cultural awareness and love for the richness of our traditions,” The donors entrusted their collection to their alma mater to be the second home of their precious and valuable items that were collected throughout the years from Aparri to Jolo.

DLSU President Br. Bernard S. Oca FSC expressed his appreciation to Tony and Vince as their collection embodied the essence of the Filipino cultural heritage.”They must have this affinity of sharing our cultural heritage that represents our history and identity – our bond to the past, to our present, and the future.”

Another highlight of the event was the signing of the deed of donation with the donors, Mr. Vince Revilla and Ms. Rosalinda Cervantes (representing his brother, Tony); DLSU President Br. Bernard Oca FSC, Director of Libraries Ms. Christine Abrigo; and witnesses Atty. Roberto San Jose and Mr. Christian Conner y D’arville.
